Lindsay Lohan : A Prarie Home Companion
Okay, I'm going to show my age a bit, but I think it's important for Lindsay Lohan fans to know about the Radio Show, A Prarie Home Companion, in order to fully appreciate the movie when it comes out.
For her fans, no doubt you'll see and love the movie just because of Lindsay Lohan has role in it. But I'm seeing a lot of threads and posts about this being a good serious role for Lindsay to break away from her teen queen status ... that's not likely to happen with this film. It will be a more grown-up role, but not necessarily a more serious one.
I've been listening to this radio program for 20 years and there's nothing serious about it. That's not a bad thing by any means - I love the show and Garrison Keillor's writing, voice and stage acting. Sadly, I missed the opportunity of a lifetime recently when the show was staged and aired near where I live but I was volunteering at a Scout Camp and couldn't break a previous commitment and engagement to attend.
I would encourage Lindsay Lohan fans to check their local NPR (National Public Radio) stations for when the show is aired in your market. Generally, it is on the waves live on Saturday evenings and rebroadcast Sunday afternoon's. It is a variety show of sorts with wonderful characters, sound effects, stories, and music, that is wonderfully reminiscant of the radio days of yesteryear. It is a show that requires listening and imagination, but is wonderfully stimulating on the brain and senses!Do yourself a favor - check your local radio listings and air times for A Prarie Home Companion - the radio show.
You will enjoy the movie will be so much better if you do in my opinion!I think to fully appreciate the movie, its plot and subplots, characters, etc. everyone should give the radio show a listen. I won't lie, like British comedy, it is an acquired taste. You may not fall in love with the show, but at least you'll have a better understanding of the movie when you go to see it; no different than having read the book before someone makes it into a movie.I look forward to the ensemble cast and seeing how Robert Altman pulls them together in this story about this radio show which in its own right is a unique part of American History.
