Superman Returns - With Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth
The long awaited return of Superman returns to U.S. theatres next week with a brand new movie, Superman Returns.

After researching IMBd, I am a little worried that the new Superman movie might be a disappointment as this was all they had to say about the plot:

After a long visit to the lost remains of the planet Krypton, the Man of Steel returns to earth to become the peoples savior once again and reclaim the love of Lois Lane.

Of course, the other concern, is that the memory of Christopher Reeves will linger over older fans like me, and not give the movie and its younger cast the full, objective benefit of the doubt.

But this movie has all of the right stuff to help look past the past, and look forward to a new generation, starting with its cast.

Superman Returns will star Brandon Routh as Clark Kent/Superman the challenge of being a new comer to the silver screen, but seems to fit the part quite nicely; he comes from farm country USA - Iowa, just a tall leap from Kansas where the original superman crash landed.

Kate Bosworth has great star appeal and has been turning critics on the pad and pencils since her first role in "The Horse Whisperer" and turning the heads of googling young men since her star role in "Blue Crush." However, this time around, she's playing Lois Lane, and it will be a stretch of the imagination for many of us to see the beautiful blonde playing the brunette role of Lois Lane.

The cast is overshadowed by the powerhouse, Kevin Spacey, playing the role of Lex Luthor. Spacey alone is enough to convince me that the powers behind Superman Returns made the right decisions and knowing that Spacey signed on says that the other cast members are they right fit for Superman Returns.

Also returning from the depths, is Marlon Brandon via archive footage as Jor-El, Superman's father.

After seeing more advertisements, trailers and reviewing the cast for the Superman Returns movie, I am glad that I have a young son to use as an excuse to go to the cinema to see the latest version.

Jolie - Pitt First Baby Picture Goes to Charity

After a frenzy of excitement that only the media could muster, pictures of baby Shiloh, born to the proud parents of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are coming to a newsstand near you ... or, you could just look on the Internet.

With an estimated $5 million at stake for the first photos of the Jolie-Pitt baby, western reporters and paparazzi followed the Hollywood couple to a coastal resort in the African nation of Namibia, where they've been since April in preparation for the birth.

On May 27th, the wait for baby bradjelina (Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt) was over, and the race for the first pictures was on!

An entertainment-media frenzy erupted Monday after the Hollywood couple announced that photo agency Getty Images had taken the first snapshots of their baby and that all profits from the sale of these much-anticipated images would be donated to charity.

On Tuesday, People magazine announced it had secured North American rights to the photos, while the U.K.'s Hello magazine began promoting that it, too, would feature the photos.

However, a leaked cover of the popular U.K. title began circulating on celebrity gossip websites that same day, prompting both Hello and People to take legal action against website operators on Wednesday.

The exclusive photo spread was circulating via email yesterday ... millions well spent?

On Wednesday, Jolie and Pitt staged a press conference to thank the Namibian government and people for the peace and privacy they enjoyed; the government, local authorities and even average citizens largely opposed efforts to report on Jolie and Pitt.

"We both had travelled to Africa and loved this part of the world," Jolie said.

"On top of that, we received amazing health care," Pitt added. "We were afforded a peace here that we could not have at home."

The couple said they plan to leave Namibia in the next few days.

Pitt and Jolie will be returning to a media frenzy where the pictures of their newborn dominate water cooler discussions, newstands and morning talk shows.
